Catriona Gray is Miss Universe 2018

Miss Nederland 2018 Rahima Dirkse greep naast de winst. Catriona Gray bleek nét iets meer in de smaak te vallen bij de jury en daardoor mag zij zich Miss Universe 2018 noemen.

Voor we doorgaan naar waar je eigenlijk voor komt (de foto’s, snappen we), eerst even wat achtergrondinformatie. Catriona Gray werd geboren op 4 januari 1994 in Australië. Na de middelbare school verhuisde ze naar Manila, de hoofdstad van de Filipijnen. Niet vreemd, want haar moeder is Filippijnse van origine.

Hoewel ze er pas later ging wonen, werd ze al in 1999 uitgeroepen tot Little Miss Philippines. In 2016 werd ze Miss World Philippines en nu voegt ze daar de titel Miss Universe 2018 aan toe. Ze is de vierde Filippijnse die de titel weet te winnen.
