Hoyte van Hoytema wint eerste Oscar: alle winnaars op een rij (Oscars 2024)

De Nederlandse cameraman Hoyte van Hoytema heeft zijn allereerste Oscar gewonnen. Hij ging naar huis met het gouden beeldje voor ‘Best Cinematography’. Hij ontving de prijs voor zijn werk in Oppenheimer. De film van Christopher Nolan over de ‘grootvader van de atoombom’ was overigens de grote winnaar tijdens de Oscars 2024.

Oppenheimer won in totaal zeven Oscars. Naast Hoyte van Hoytema, won de film ook een Oscar in de categorieën: ‘Best Picture’, ‘Best Actor’, ‘Best Supporting Actor’, ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Original Score’, ‘Best ‘Film Editing’.

Hoyte van Hoytema wint eerste Oscar

Hoyte van Hoytema is de elfde Nederlander die een Oscar heeft gewonnen. De in Zwitserland geboren Nederlander volgde een filmopleiding in Polen en begon zijn carriére in Zweden. Het was een lange weg naar Hollywood, maar de 52-jarige cinematograaf heeft inmiddels al aan talloze internationale films gewerkt. Denk aan Dunkirk, Nope, Tenet en recentelijk dus Oppenheimer.

In zijn speech bedankte hij de crew van de film en zijn familie. Tot slot riep hij nieuwe filmmakers op om op een ouderwetse manier te filmen en niet alleen maar digitaal. ‘Probeer dat hippe nieuwe ding eens: celluloid. Het is veel makkelijker dan je denkt en alles ziet er zoveel mooier uit’, zegt de cameraman.
